I believe anxiety is one of the greatest plagues of our time. I’m sure you’ve noticed how it seems like we go through our days perpetually preoccupied about no concrete matter. You’ve probably seen this not just in the men around you, but in yourself as well. I can tell you I have, and I’m one of the many who fight this battle against the pestering fear of anxiety.

This epidemic is probably caused by multiple factors, such as social media, sensationalist news, hustle culture and the vanity of constant comparison. There are other problems that play a part in making the average man anxious, like the rising costs of living, the overreach of government, and the perception that our culture is rapidly moving towards a precipice from which there is no coming back. And while some of these factors are true and do affect us, in reality, most of the things that cause us anxiety are just worthless worries that we can choose to get out of our minds. That means that they are things that we can control, dissect, and eliminate.

The goal of this article is not to do a deep dive into the reasons why anxiety plagues most men today, but rather focus on 3 specific things that you can do, today, to take control over the things that you can control, which will all but kill that anxiety and stress that sometimes consumes you. These are things that go beyond the obvious advice you may have heard, and you can start using them for your advantage immediately.

A a man, it’s critical that you learn to get your emotions under control. You are a man, and that means that there are certain expectations placed on you: you are tasked with leading your people towards virtue. You are tasked with bringing order to the chaos. You are tasked to provide your loved ones with safety, and that includes mental and emotional safety. Being constantly anxious will keep you from performing those masculine duties properly.

I will explain the 3 things that can help you defeat anxiety, and then provide both general and more specific strategies to defeat what seems at times, an undefeatable foe.
