“It’s our cowardice which is leading to the decline of the West. We rejected Christ in the public square and bought the comfortable lie that religion is subjective, and thus only fit for private practice.”
Gold.
As always, C.S. Lewis utterly nails it with his definition of progress: “We all want progress. But progress means getting nearer to the place where you want to be. And if you have taken a wrong turning then to go forward does not get you any nearer. If you are on the wrong road progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road and in that case the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive man. There is nothing progressive about being pig-headed and refusing to admit a mistake. And I think if you look at the present state of the world it's pretty plain that humanity has been making some big mistake. We're on the wrong road. And if that is so we must go back. Going back is the quickest way on.”
There’s a reason why Christ is always referred to as King of Kings. ¡Viva Cristo Rey!

how this leads with a straight line to the great schism... follows straight to the protestant reformation and thus "the separation of church and state is born"... thank you great schism, thank you reformation for the sullying of God's creation.
You'll also discover that modern medicine while it gate keeps the tools and medicinces of science is actually cover for the largest religious cult in human history.
Ivan Illich was a Roman Catholic Priest who wrote about this problem in his text Medical Nemesis.
Glory to God for the depth of these observations you've made
I hope you continue to go even deeper. There is more rabbit hole to discover.
I agree but I don't think any such thing is possible in America's re*ubl*c. D*mo*racy makes this impossible too. Strangely enough, I don't know such a society is possible having been brainwashed for generations by these idols; let alone myself even. It's difficult for me to say the will of God is through the will of the fallen masses.
I agree that the modern state is largely corrupt and moving further away from Christian values, but if theocracy in the modern world and clear cooperation between church and state were the correct model, wouldn't there be instructions in the New Testament for how to put this into practice? It seems as if St Paul contradicts this idea when he says to be subject to the governing authorities - talking in the context of a completely anti-Christian Roman Empire.
It’s strange you frame the first half of the article as secular bad, Christian good. Would racism be good in a Catholic state? Sexism? Would it be OK for police to kneel on a suspect’s neck until he passes out while bystanders film it and plead for his life? Is that pro-life?
Aside from gay marriage and abortion, is there any other problem with the modern state?
It was long but interesting. I don’t agree with everything in there. Largely because although I am Roman Catholic, I have friends that are Hindu and friends that are Jewish and friends that are Muslims and other Christian denominations. Although personally, I think Catholicism is the best, I have taken courses on comparative religions and also independently delved into them, I do not hold anyone’s beliefs against them. I do believe that there should be some separation between church and state although the state definitely needs to be based with a strong moral value. I’m already talking too much. I’m sure you’ll see more later.
Great article. I agree a neutral, religion free, morality and set of laws is impossible. However I question whether the state can ever be framed as moral under a Christian understanding or morality. Better to go with private government and governance, than a coercion monopolist like the state.
OMHO, Pope Pio X was the last of the Mohicans in the church of Christ. He fought with tooth and nails to preserve our traditions, the true teachings of Christ.

Great quote from CS Lewis! Do you know which of his works its from?
Mere Christianity. A must read: https://amzn.to/4hWh5aB
An absolutely fundamental book!
I love all of your work, and this article is truly phenomenal. I will be using many of these points in future discussions and debates.
Love to hear that man, and thank you so much for reading and supporting. I appreciate you and glad you found the article useful!

That’s a very interesting rabbit hole. I’ll check out the text you mention. And thank you for the kind words brother, God bless you

Yeah you might be right on that one. The question of whether or not it’s possible is a whole different debate.

You clearly didn’t understand the article. Never said those things were good.
“Aside from gay marriage and abortion, is there any other problem with the modern state?”
Yes. Are you truly asking that question?
And even if those were the only two things wrong, they aren’t minimal at all, and more than enough to prove my point

Progressivism, easy choice.

Reading MWD's "The Reactionary Mind" speaks of this similar theme and changed my politics forever.
Separation of Church and state is a masonic fabrication used to dethrone kings.

Religion is the intersection of metaphysics and metaethics.
