Sometimes, in trying to determine how a man should be, it’s easier and more impactful to think about how a man should not be. Crafting a clear image of the man that you should avoid becoming at all costs will help you be more aware of the attitudes and actions you should steer clear of, which is just as important as knowing how to be and act.

I visualize the kind of man I want to be very often, and I also imagine the kind of man I cannot, under any circumstances, become. This sad, depressed, lazy, weak, imaginary alter-ego always has one specific attribute that makes him completely detestable.

He is a type of man who is much more despicable than all the others. A man so cowardly that no one dares be in his proximity for more than a couple of minutes. He’s so dishonorable and pitiful that he goes about alone, not because he so desires, but rather because everyone runs from him, not out of fear, but out of deep contempt, shame and disgust. And this man has a specific character trait that makes him incredibly repellent.

I am talking about a specific character trait that will draw people away from you. Men won’t respect you. Women will run away from you. You won’t move forward in your profession. Your relationships won’t progress. Your mental and physical health will suffer. You simply cannot afford to let it be a part of your personality. So what exactly is it?
