Stop Funding the Enemy
Don't give your money to those who are clearly against our values.
I remember vividly how, when I was in college, there were social “campaigns” in favor of “equality” seemingly every single week.
You turned on the computer and the first thing you saw was the screensaver, shared across every single computer of the school: a comic strip like the one below (don’t worry, I’ll translate).
Guy in the blue jacket: “Dude, did you see that there’s only like two guys majoring in Psychology and the rest are women?”
Guy in the red shirt: “Really? They must be gay hahaha”
White Knight entering into the conversation uninvited: “Or maybe they’re just really good at what they do, period!!”
And so on, every week. This is not even one of the worst ones, but you get the point.
The comic strip is not only painfully stupid, but an attempt to demonize a completely normal conversation between regular college kids and make it seem “misogynistic and homophobic”.
After having to read that stupid comic book, you would go to the main hall and you’d be greeted by rainbow flags and banners showcasing “sexist” statistics like:
“Did you know that only 40% of our professors are women?”
“Did you know that only 25% of the people majoring in graphic design are male?”
And so on and so forth. Slowly, these efforts by the very leftist college I was attending started to configure an environment in which everyone was on the lookout for things that were “offensive”. Little by little, it became more and more difficult to just speak normally, and people on the left side of the spectrum started to become empowered, aggressive, and confrontational anytime they deemed something to be “not inclusive” or whatever.
Back then, these campaigns were just something we made fun of with my friends. We didn’t think too much about them. They were annoying and dumb, but we were perhaps too young to understand the influence that such heavy propaganda could —and would— have on thousands of younger students, and how much those seemingly harmless screensavers were foretelling the cultural decline that was approximating quickly.
In hindsight, maybe we should’ve known. Maybe I should’ve changed universities to avoid funding such propaganda. But I was young and didn’t understand the magnitude of the cultural war that was upon us.
In fact, it was only a few weeks ago, while attending a Catholic leadership program in Washington D.C, that I finally understood just how important it is for us —not just Catholics, but all serious Christians—, to fight against the institutions that so desperately want to drive us into the abyss of sin and vice.
As part of the program, one of the high ranking members of the Heritage Foundation gave us a talk in which he described some of the fights that had been won in the public policy sphere thanks to their organization: he talked about abortion, about policies to protect children, and about fighting against the transgender athlete policies.
After the talk, during the Q&A session, someone asked him what we, regular, everyday people, could do to help in this cultural war.
His answer, simple as it was, stuck with me and motivated me to write this article:
“Stop funding the enemy. Do not give a penny of your money to those institutions that so openly go against everything you stand for.”
(I’m paraphrasing, but it was something like that.)
How simple, and yet how true.
His answer led me to question my own actions:
How much money had I paid in tuition fees to an institution that so clearly went against my values?
Yeah, sure, it was a prestigious college. I got a great degree. But at what cost?
How much money had I spent buying stuff from companies that push the new age gender agenda constantly?
How much time had I spent watching shows and movies from studios and corporations that despise my faith and who mock God at every step?

I encourage you to ask yourself the same questions. It’s not about feeling guilty or like a hypocrite for not having been 100% consistent with our values by only supporting those organizations that perfectly align with them, but about being aware of the fact that every penny that we spend will be used to either help Christian values spread, or to promote sin, relativism, vice and decay.
We have a responsibility to pay attention and notice when we are supporting a business or organization that clearly goes against our values. And then, we have a duty to stand by our values and refuse to “just go with it.”
We can stop funding the enemy. We can choose to purchase goods from companies that are owned by those who have similar values as us. If that’s not possible, at least we can refuse to do business with those companies which are so clearly opposed to God and goodness.
We can donate to institutions and individuals who are trying their best to fight this war. We can support those who are risking their reputation and good standing with this broken society by taking a public stand against the things we know are wrong.
We can homeschool our children or send them to schools were they won’t be actively indoctrinated by the state religion. We can take them out of the educational institutions that want nothing more than to take them from us.
At the very least, and if your livelihood could be risked by you voicing your opinions, you can offer an encouraging word to those you see in the frontlines of this bloody war. You could help them out in secret. You could support the fighters from within the camp of the enemy.
Yes, this will be hard. It’s true that most corporations, businesses, and educational institutions are not on our side. It’s true that most “prestigious” institutions are not aligned with our values.
To stop funding the enemy completely will require a lot of sacrifice. It will mean giving up a lot of opportunities. It will mean refusing to go to the “best” colleges and refusing to send your kids there. It will require a lot of faith too. But remember that no battle is hopeless, and those who fight for God have always fought against the odds.
It is 100% a difficult sacrifice. But it’s a short term sacrifice for a long term victory.
Maybe if we all decide to stop giving our money to those institutions that despise us, we could start to change the tide. Maybe they would realize that they went too far, and that we will not take it anymore. Maybe, just maybe, that would be enough to push the pendulum back towards sanity.
And even if that doesn’t happen, at least we won’t live as hypocrites, complaining about the state of the world and giving half our paychecks to the corporations that we know are plunging our society into the darkness.
We can start small, by refusing to comply with their insane demands on language and speech. We can start by speaking our minds and standing behind our values. We can start by being aware of who we’re supporting, and making a sincere effort to choose better options.
This cultural war won’t fight itself. Like any war, it will be determined by the number of people fighting and by which side is better funded.
If you can’t join the frontlines, you still have a responsibility to fund the right side.
Maybe then, if we all make a sincere commitment to fight for our culture and our values, will we successfully rescue millions of souls from the brink of damnation.
Perhaps we will reach the end of our days in peace, knowing that we gave everything we could and that we lived our faith with courage, no matter the cost.

Voting with your dollars is important. Unfortunately, most aren’t even willing to give up something as simple as a cup of Starbucks coffee for their values. We are all dyed in the wool American, liberal, materialists.
This was proposed years ago as the Benedict option, and a lot of people have stepped up to open a sort of parallel economy based on more traditional values. Every encouragement helps.
