All of these are things that erode your masculinity. Let’s get right into it: here are 15 things that a masculine man never does.

  1. Blame God for his own failures: A masculine man recognizes his responsibility in his own fate. He knows that he’s been given free will, and he doesn’t blame God for his shortcomings or failures. Instead, he learns and humbly submits himself to God’s will.

  1. Burden others: There are few things more unmanly than being unwilling to carry one’s own weight. A real man must try his best to carry his own burdens, and help those under his leadership with theirs, instead of waiting for someone else to come and do it for him.

  1. Use busyness as an excuse for neglect: Work cannot be the sole focus in a man’s life. Very often, we use work and “busyness” as a socially accepted excuse to neglect other, more important aspects of our lives: our families, our health, our sleep, our spiritual life. A real man understands the purpose of work and approaches it gratefully, but he doesn’t let the stresses and demands of his job distract him from the things that matter most.

  1. Try to “win” every argument: A masculine man doesn’t feel the need to prove his worth by “winning” every argument. His confidence and opinions don’t depend on external validation, and he understands that trying to win every conversation is ultimately an expression of pride and vanity.

  1. Reduce his faith to a feeling: There’s a growing trend in Christian circles of men following God only when it feels good. But faith is much more than just “feel-good” doctrine. Our faith cannot be determined by our feelings. A masculine man perseveres in his faith and in his spiritual formation even if he doesn’t “feel” like it, or if he’s having trouble recognizing God’s presence and providence in his life.
